Welcome to Kumo Izakaya, Melbourne's foremost location for Japanese sake, food and culture. An eating place, a drinking place, a meeting place, Kumo is more than a restaurant and bar.

We serve "Izakaya" style Japanese food, it's closest comparison is Spanish tapas. Lots of smaller dishes to share, meaning you get to try many different tastes as opposed to locking yourself into the traditional western style dining of "entree, mains and dessert".

At Kumo Izakaya, you will find a varied and extensive range of local and imported wine, spirits, sake, shochu, umeshu and beer. Our in-house wine and sake experts will be on hand to offer recommendations and information. Enjoy a range of small gourmet izakaya-style platters between friends while opening up a bottle of wine or sake to match, or sip a house signature cocktail or fine Japanese whisky at the bar.

Kumo - The Greatest Gift Of All

7 October 2011 ~ Products
Available now from Kumo
Kumo gift certificates have arrived. Perfect for friends, family, food lovers, sake drinkers, izakaya obsessives and those izakaya virgins our there. Our gift certificates can be $10, (enough for some Yuba and Nori wrapped steamed chicken Shumai with Ankake sauce and shaved leek), or $350, enough for four people to have the Omakase* menu.

In Japan gifts are given and received with both hands. Known as 'temiyage' gifts are traditionally given twice a year, in June and December , in June they are known as Oseibo and in December, Ochugen. We think it should be more frequent and that's why Kumo gift certificates will be available, and redeemable all year round.

Vouchers are available from Kumo. Just ask one of our staff for more information.

*Omakase means 'I'll leave it to you'.
