Welcome to Kumo Izakaya, Melbourne's foremost location for Japanese sake, food and culture. An eating place, a drinking place, a meeting place, Kumo is more than a restaurant and bar.

We serve "Izakaya" style Japanese food, it's closest comparison is Spanish tapas. Lots of smaller dishes to share, meaning you get to try many different tastes as opposed to locking yourself into the traditional western style dining of "entree, mains and dessert".

At Kumo Izakaya, you will find a varied and extensive range of local and imported wine, spirits, sake, shochu, umeshu and beer. Our in-house wine and sake experts will be on hand to offer recommendations and information. Enjoy a range of small gourmet izakaya-style platters between friends while opening up a bottle of wine or sake to match, or sip a house signature cocktail or fine Japanese whisky at the bar.

Enjoy our take on surf & turf at Kumo on Australia Day eve, Sunday 25th January.

20 January 2015 ~ Events

Join us on Australia Day eve - Sunday 25th January for a special sharing platter for two.

It may not be snags and shrimp on the barbie, but we think it's a whole lot better - a special pre Australia Day surf and turf platter to share.

This tasty sharing plate for two consists of:

Yellow fin tuna tartar vs wagyu beef tartar - shot glass style.
Braised pork belly, tobbiko & tempura prawn sushi inside out roll.
Char grilled teriyaki wagyu beef & Hokkaido scallop skewers.
Shiokoji marinated poached & chilled chicken breast medallion with spanner crab miso.

This deluxe tasting plate is $45 and is designed for two people to share.

Available one night only - Sunday 25th January
Not available for takeaway.
Sorry, we can't accommodate any dietary requirements on this dish - but we have an extensive dietary menu available.
